LB WIRE ROPES is a family company established in 1962 when Frank Hansen and Jack Smith purchased the business from James Le Blanc, a French-Canadian who had patented the 'Le Blanc Splice'. Co-proprietor Jack Smith retired in 1976, and Frank Hansen retired in 1993, passing management of the company to present owners, Paul and Vivien Hansen.

The company has three divisions, Lifting and Lashing Equipment, Brifen Wire Rope Safety Barriers, and International Trading.

This website covers the traditional core company activities - the manufacture and supply of lifting and lashing equipment.

For more than three decades LB Wire Ropes has continued to develop strong ties with established world leaders in lifting equipment design and manufacture such as; Parson Chain Co. (UK), manufacturers of 'Kuplex' alloy lifting chains and Trawlex alloy fishing chains; Gunnebo (Sweden), manufacturers of 'Gunnebo' alloy chains and components; Deeweld Ltd (UK), manufacturers of 'Camlok' plate clamps; Spanset (Germany), manufacturers of 'Spanset' webbing slings and lashing systems; Bridon Ropes (UK),
manufacturers of 'Endurance' and Dyform' high technology wire ropes, the 'Brifen' wire rope safety fences and 'Bridon Structural Systems.'

Over the years, LB Wire Ropes has also built strong ties with local Australian manufacturers and distributors PWB (transport chains and components, chain blocks, hoists and sheave blocks), Pacific Hoists (chain blocks, hoists and winches), Ronstan Marine (stainless steel components) and BHP (wire ropes).

LB Wire Ropes also manufactures a diverse range of lifting and lashing components including; rope slings from 2mm to 32mm, hand and machine spliced cable stockings in standard and custom sizes designed in nylon strand, galvanised

and stainless steel wire rope, wire rope ladders and safety nets, crane ropes and safety lines, in addition to custom wire rope assemblies.

LB Wire Ropes' on-site inspection and testing section offers comprehensive inspection repair and test facilities. These inspection and testing services can be carried out either in-house using our 200 tonne, 13 metre test bed, or on-site using portable electronic load cells.
